Welcome to the April 2015 Calcutta Street Photography Competition.
Theme: “Rituals observed in Kolkata”. The entries we look forward to is Street Photographs having a presence Rituals practiced in Calcutta – Dondi, Charak, Gajan, Noboborsho rituals etc. are just pointers.
Judge: Ace Photographer Mr. Asis Kumar Sanyal will curate the Competition. He will choose the 3 Best Entries and 7 Special Mentions which would be a part of the Archive with due credit to the Photographer.
Mr. Asis Kumar Sanyal is a self-taught photographer. Photography is not his profession but a passion since his school days, which ultimately turned into an obsession as a result of which he took voluntary retirement from his Bank’s service in the year 2000. He has had no formal education in photography. However, he attended two National Geographic Photography Workshops under Mark Thiessen and Jim Richardson at Santa Fe, USA and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico respectively in 2008 as a part of his Grand Award in Intercontinental Insights Photo Contest, 2007. He also attended another photography workshop in LOOK3 Photo Festival, 2008 in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA under David Alan Harvey.
He likes most to photograph people in their natural environment so that each photograph can narrate its own story. Sometimes, he does make series of individual photographs which address social issues in larger perspectives. He lives in the City of Joy, Kolkata with his wife and only son.
Eligibility: If you have photographed Calcutta, you are welcome to join irrespective of your place of Residency
Entry: 1 Photograph per Participant
File Format: JPG – 1024 px on the longest side at 72 dpi without Watermarks and Borders. (Please ensure File Size is within 1 Mb)
File Renaming: FirstName_LastName (e.g. Purnendu_Sengupta.jpg)
Post Processing: Alteration of elements and unnatural processing (including HDR & Selective Coloring) to be avoided. Adjustment of Brightness, Contrast, Color Saturation, Sharpening, marginal Cropping and limited post processing is acceptable. Monochrome is also welcome.
Submission Period: 28th April, 2015 (Tuesday) to 8th May, 2015 (Sunday).
Result Declaration: Tentative 15th May, 2015 (Friday)
Submission procedure: Email the Entry to “firstname.lastname@example.org” with the Subject Line “Calcutta Street Photography Competition – April 2015” (without quotes) along with the following details in the Body of the Email:-
