Durga Pujo 2019 Photography Contest in association with Canon



  1. Prostuti (Welcoming Mother) – Photos that create the vibes of welcoming Goddess Durga to the planet Earth
  2. Matri Bandana (Emotion of Bengal) – Photos that capture the mood and essence of the largest carnival of the world
  3. Alokmoy Prithibi (Power of Good over Evil) – Photos that showcases the spirit of Kali Pujo and Diwali

All Themes are open to interpretation.



> 3 First Prizes of each Theme (Rs. 5,000/- Amazon Gift Voucher or Equivalent)

> 3 Second Prizes of each Theme (Rs. 2,500/- Amazon Gift Vouchers or Equivalent)

> 3 Third Prizes of each Theme (Rs. 1,000/- Amazon Gift Vouchers or Equivalent)

> 16 Honorary Mentions across all Themes

A total of 25 participants will be duly recognized and felicitated


Entry Fees: NIL (Any brand camera users are welcome)


Contest Period:

1st October – 31st October 2019


Email Submission Procedure:

  1. File size – 1024 px on the largest side at 96 dpi (Please ensure each photo is less than 2 MB each) without Watermark
  2. Photos to be renamed as “Theme_FirstName_Surname_Serial.JPG” (e.g. Prostuti_Soumen_Mukherjee_1.JPG)
  3. Photos to be mailed to contestsoc2015@gmail.com along with your Name, Address and Phone Numbers
  4. Each participant can mail a maximum of 3 Photos per Theme. i.e. a total of 9 Photos per participant. For Durga Pujo (Prostuti & Matri Bandana) you can mail 6 photos in the first mail and the rest 3 (Alokmoy Prithibi) can be mailed in the second mail after Kali Pujo/Diwali.
  5. Photos submitted can be shot during 2019 festive season or in the earlier years


Instagram Submission Procedure:

  1. You need to follow @streetsofcalcutta and @canonindia_official
  2. You can upload an unlimited number of entries with the hashtag #CanonSocUma2019 [You are free to submit 9 entries through Email + unlimited number of entries through Instagram]
  3. You Profile must be Public
  4. Please ensure we can reach out to you through Instagram messaging if your Photos are shortlisted



  1. The judging would be done by an independent panel of Judges
  2. Shortlisted participants would be contacted through Email (or Instagram Messaging) to submit the High Resolution version for verification
  3. The number of Likes on Instagram will NOT be a criteria for Shortlisting [Quality over Quantity]
  4. The Judges decision would be final and binding
